Celadon begonia-shaped Bowl Yue Ware

Celadon begonia-shaped Bowl Yue Ware

Among celadon from Yue kiln, this masterpiece is unique. It is large and regular in shape, with an opening like a blooming crabapple flower and a plump belly. The bowl was made from fine clay then evenly coated with bright yellowish celadon glaze. During the early Tang dynasty, Yue kiln, located around Shanglinhu, Cixi, Zhejiang Province, produced many tribute porcelains for royal family and this bowl is a typical representative.
