Women's Ensemble with Silver Adornments and Cross-stitched Embroidery, Yao

Description

The Yao people are skilled in indigo dyeing. Women's wear is basically sewed with homemade native cloth. The smart Yao women often embroider a variety of colored laces on the collar, sleeves and leg openings and other conspicuous positions, in a variety of methods, such as embroidery and cross-stitch as well as brocade and batik. The costume features a sharp contrast in colors and looks bright yet not garish. Yao costumes vary with different places. This is a piece from the Jinxiu area of Guangxi.
