Description

Chen Chun (1483-1544), also known by his zi (designated name) Daofu and hao (literary name) Baiyang, was a native of Changzhou (present-day Suzhou, Jiangsu province). He was a student of Wen Zhengming and developed his own style later. Chen was adept in painting flowers and landscape in an unconstrained and expressive style. The artist was often mentioned together with his peer Xu Wei as "Qingteng and Baiyang". The album was painted in the 23rd year (1544) of the Jiajing reign when the artist was 62.
