Description

Hua Zuli (active in the 14th century) is known by his zi (designated name) Tangqing, with his native place unknown. He specialized in painting figures. This painting portrays Lao Zi, the founder of Taoism, and his ten disciples who are Yin Xi, Wen Zi (aka. Xin Xing), Geng Sangchu, Nan Rongchu, Yinwen, Shi Chengqi, Cui Qu, Bai Ju, Lie Zi (aka. Lie Yukou) and Zhuang Zi (aka. Zhuang Zhou).
