Description

Ding Yunpeng (1547-1628), a native of Xiuning in Anhui province, is also known for his zi (designated name) Nanyu and hao (literary name) Shenghua Jushi. The artist was adept in painting figures in meticulous style, especially Buddhist images, as well as landscape and floral themes. This scroll unfolds renowned scenic spots in Mount Wuyi along the Jiuqu (zigzag) Creek, including san gu shi (Three-fairies Rocks), huan gu yan (Bone-changing Rock), and Chongyou Temple. The painting is inscribed with poems by Ding Yunpeng, Fan Yunsheng, Mo Shilong, and other scholars. This is a painting dedicated as a farewell to Feng Sui, who was going on a trip to Mount Lu and Mount Wuyi.
