Zhao Zhiqian (1829-1884) is also known by his zi (designated name) Yifu and his hao (literary name) Lengjun. He changed his zi to Weishu and his hao Bei’an in his later life. A native of Kuaiji (present-day Shaoxing, Zhejiang province), Zhao Zhiqian was adept in painting and calligraphy. This album was completed in the ninth year of the Xianfeng reign (1859) when the artist was thirty-one years old.
