Description

The Kaimu Temple is located in the Songshan Mountain of Dengfeng county in Henan province. Its Stone Towers were constructed in 123, the second year of the Yanguang reign during the Eastern Han dynasty. The original inscription was written in the seal script with powerful strokes, fusing styles of the inscriptions on drum-shaped stones of the Qin State (475-221 BCE) and stone inscriptions of the Qin dynasty (221-207 BCE). This album is one of the few Han dynasty works in the seal script that we can see today. The intact character jiu indicates that this rubbing was made during late Ming to early Qing period.
