Chen Chun (1484-1544), also known by his zi (designated name) Daofu and his hao (literary name) Baiyang, was a native of Suzhou in Jiangsu province. Especially good at painting free-style flowers, the artist was often mentioned together with his peer Xu Wei as “Qingteng and Baiyang”. This work was dated the 16^th year of Jiajing reign (1537) when the artist was fifty-four years old.
