Description

Gong Xian (1618-1689) was the most prominent artist among the Eight Masters of Nanjing, distinctive for his landscape paintings and application of layers of ink in his works. Born in Kunshan, Jiangsu province, he later settled down in Nanjing. His zi (designated name) is Banqian, and hao (literary name) Banshan Yeren (Wildings of Mid-levels).
