Description

Shen Quan (1682-ca. after 1762) is also known by his zi (designated name) Hengzhi and his hao (literary name) Nanpin. A native of Wuxing-or, according to other record, from Deqing (present-day Huzhou, Zhejiang), Shen Quan was adept in painting flowers, birds and animals in a meticulous manner. This scroll was completed in the ninth year of Qianlong reign (1744) when the artist was sixty-three years old.
