Description

Huang Huanwu (1906-1985), a native of Xinhui in Guangdong, resided in Shanghai for over four decades. He inherited the Lingnan School's tradition of bright colors and the techniques of pigment wash (zhuangfen), color wash (zhuangse), and water wash (zhuangshui). He also combined the styles of Chinese painting and Western painting, exhibiting a unique approach to art. This work captures the majestic undulations of Jinggang Mountain, its richly textured peaks glowing under fiery morning clouds.
