Feng Zikai (1898-1975), originally named Feng Run, was a native of Tongxiang, Zhejiang. He studied painting under Li Shutong and literature under Xia Mianzun, and later studied in Japan. He served as the first president of the Shanghai Chinese Painting Academy. His caricatures are simple, vivid, and humorous, illustrating poetry within everyday life. A pioneer of modern Chinese caricature art, he is celebrated as the "Father of Chinese Caricature". This work was created to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the People's Republic of China, depicting crowds watching National Day fireworks.
