Description

Du Qiong (1396-1474), also known by his zi (designated name) Yongjia and hao (literary name) Dongyuan Gengzhe, was native to Wu county (nowadays Suzhou, Jiangsu province). Skilled in landscape paintings, Du Qiong learned from styles of Wang Meng. Shen Zhou (1427-1509), also known by his zi (designated name) Qinan and hao (literary name) Shitian or Baishiweng, was native to Changzhou (nowadays Suzhou, Jiangsu province). Shen Zhou was one of the "Four Masters of the Ming". Liu Jue (1410-1472), also known by his zi (designated name) Tingmei and hao (literary name) Wan'an, was native to Changzhou (nowadays Suzhou, Jiangsu province). Liu Jue learned from styles of Wang Meng in landscape paintings. This painting was a collaborative work of the three painters for celebrating the 60th birthday of Xu Youzhen.
