Xie Sun (17th century) is also known by his zi (designated name) Xiangyou and Tianling. A native of Lishui in Jiangsu province, he later settled down in Nanjing. Skilled in landscape and flower painting, he was one of the "Eight Masters of Jinling", on par with Gong Xian and Fan Qi in fame. But only a few of his artworks have survived. In the album, the figures scatter among the landscape and countryside. The thin brushstrokes and the wet ink contribute to the unique exquisite composition.
