Description

Huang Binhong (1865-1955) was a native of She county in Anhui, born in Jinhua in Zhejiang province. His original name was Maozhi but changed to Zhi. Later he was mostly known by his hao (literary name) Binhong. Huang excelled in landscape painting, following styles of the Xin'an School in early period. In his later years, Huang's brushworks featured meticulous precision. Huang also painted occasionally flowers, birds, and insects, displaying unique charm. This scroll was painted in 1946 when the artist was 83. The landscape was rendered with rich tones and intense brushstrokes, creating a lush and profound depth.
