Zhao Puchu had long devoted himself to charity and relief efforts, and was the Honorary President of the Red Cross Society of China. This calligraphic work was written to celebrate the 85th anniversary of the Red Cross Society of China, in which Zhao mentioned the great achievements by the Red Cross Society and expressed his sincere hope for world peace. Zhao wrote this work at the age of eighty-three, with an unaffected, rhythmic ease manifested in wet, thick brushwork.
