Description

After the New Fourth Army incident occurred in 1941, Zhao Puchu wrote this poem to indignantly accuse the KMT of its meanness in passive resistance against Japan and active opposition to the CPC. The word '辛士', pronounced as xinshi, was a homonym to the word '新四', which means the 'New Fourth Army'. In 1997, the 91-year-old calligrapher rewrote this poem for the 60th anniversary of the July 7 incident. Individual characters in this work were written in abbreviated forms with wet brushwork, exhibiting an uninterrupted flow and rhythm.
