On December 7, 1980, to celebrate the 100th birthday of Master Hongyi, the exhibition Master Hongyi: Painting, Calligraphy, Epigraphy, and Music was held in the Museum of Buddhist Books and Cultural Artifacts in China, an institution under the Buddhist Association of China (BAC). After a visit to the exhibition, Zhao Puchu composed a poem, which was written with wet, thick-ink brushwork in an uninterrupted flow of momentum. Zhao was seventy-four in that year.
