Description

In the 1970s, the Ven. Master Sheng Yi of the Po Lin Monastery in HongKong initiated the construction of the Tian Tan Buddha (aka. the Big Buddha) on Muk Yue Shan, Lantau Island, which was strongly supported by Zhao Puchu. For the Big Buddha, Zhao traveled to HongKong several times and composed many poems. He wrote this couplet for the Hall of the Universe located beneath the Big Buddha in 1993 when he was eighty-seven. The work features weighty brushwork moving in dynamic momentum.
