First published in the third year (1524) of the Jiajing reign, this eight-volume, four-book set was compiled under the direction of Zheng Luoshu, the county magistrate, with local scholar Gao Qi serving as chief editor. The work begins with two prefaces by Zheng Luoshu and Xu Jie, accompanied by maps of Shanghai County's administrative territory and urban areas. It comprises fifteen sections: general introduction, natural environment, local customs, native products, corvee system, tributes and taxes, infrastructure, temples and rituals, government staff, distinguished officials, examinations and appointments, notable figures, historic sites, miscellaneous records, and literary works. Remaining copies of this book was extremely rare. This copy was originally held in the late Ming bibliophile Mao Jin's Jiguge (Pavilion of Dipping into Antiquity), later owned by Liu Xungao, Shanghai County Magistrate during the late Qing dynasty.
