Huang Binhong (1865-1955), known by his zi (designated name) Pucun and hao (literary name) Binhong, was a native of She county in Anhui, who resided in Shanghai for 28 years and taught at institutions such as the Shanghai Art Academy. This album was created for his student Zhu Yanyin, primarily featuring Huangshan Mountain landscapes interspersed with painting theories, also serving as a pedagogical guide. Painted in Huang's later years, it showcases both the luminous "White Binhong" and the "Black Binhong" styles. Zhu Yanyin, named Duan with her zi Yanyin and hao Youfang Nüshi, was a native of Shanghai. She captured her teacher's essence in landscape painting and was a member of Shanghai's China Female Painters Society.
