A verse written for Qigong, with seven characters to a line, running script, album leaf

Artist: Zhao Puchu

Date: Modern

Material: Ink on paper

Description

Zhao Puchu and Qigong were close friends who shared the same interests, despite their age difference. Qigong was a big fan of animal plushies, which adorned almost every piece of furniture in his home, including the bed and sofa. His rich collection of plush toys had its own cabinet for storage. Attached to the cabinet was a handwritten paper slip that read: 'Just look, don't touch.' Qigong once gave a recent photo of himself to his visiting friend, Zhao Puchu, who gladly inscribed it. The inscription verse vividly depicts Qigong's optimistic and broad-minded attitude towards life, and jokes about the old man being 'like a child', revealing the close friendship between them. This work, created by the 83-year-old Zhao Puchu, features an excellent arrangement of characters, skillfully rendered with lively and graceful brushwork.
