From October to November 1960, Zhao Puchu undertook an inspection tour of several provinces and cities, including Shaanxi, Sichuan, Chongqing and Jiangsu. This calligraphic scroll consists of fourteen poems written during this trip that celebrate the magnificent landscapes of China and the country's rapid changes. The calligraphy exhibits sparsely arranged, light-hearted brushwork, expressed at a controlled pace, and the characters feature meticulous, slender construction. Zhao Puchu created this work at the age of fifty-four.
