In January 1992, the then eighty-six-year-old Zhao Puchu returned to Shanghai for an inspection. Inspired by the city's rapid transformation, he composed several poems covering a variety of themes, including the grandeur of the Nanpu Bridge, the performances of the Shanghai Kunqü Opera Troupe, and the Zhou Huchen Brush Store. These copied-out manuscripts exhibit neat, decisive brushwork, flowing momentum and superb scholarship.
