The original The Justice of a Seat, a running-script masterpiece written by the Tang-dynasty official Yan Zhenqing, has been lost, but it was carved onto a stone tablet, which is now preserved in the Xi'an Beilin Museum. Yan's calligraphy, emphasizing strength, boldness, and grandness, greatly influenced Zhao Puchu. These leaves, representing Zhao's daily practice, exhibit dynamic, speedy brushwork and reveal his respectable qualities of being unyielding, upright and forgiving. He created this work at the age of seventy-seven.
