As part of Volume Forty of The Avatamsaka Sutra, Samantabhadra's Practices and Vows focuses on the ten great vows made by Bodhisattva Samantabhadra to attain the merits of a Tathagata. The verses comprise 1,736 words in total, but Zhao Puchu only copied the first seven stanzas. His writing falls between regular and running scripts. It exhibits the aesthetics of Buddhist scripture writing by combining liveliness with meticulous grace. Zhao completed this piece at the age of ninety-two.
