Description

To be 'impartial and conscientious' means adhering to the principle of fairness in one's responsibilities and fulfilling one's tasks properly and carefully. Zhao Puchu was an honest and upright civil servant who kept precise records of all significant sums entrusted to him. Premier Zhou Enlai lauded him as 'a national treasure'. His incorruptibility, self-discipline and efficient administration demonstrate the heritage of the Zhao family, for whom the interests of the country always come first. This work showcases the calm and dignified calligraphic style through fleshy brushwork. Zhao produced it at the age of eighty-one.
