Material: Ink on paper

Description

Many people visited Zhao Puchu in hospital on his 92nd birthday on 5 November 1998. On 22 November, he attended the Buddhist assembly commemorating the 2,000-Year anniversary of Buddhism being introduced to China, which was held at Lingguang Temple in Beijing. He delivered a speech at the event and received messages of congratulations from across the country. To commemorate the event and thank his friends and relatives, he then composed this ci poem (Tune: Riverside Daffodils) . In it, he wrote, 'Four great favors are hard to reciprocate, yet I still try to muster up courage for the rest of my life.' This work was written with deft skills in a refined, mellow style.
