Zhao Puchu studied at Soochow University (now Suzhou University) in his early years. During the May 30^th Movement in 1925, he raised funds to support workers in Shanghai and forged lifelong friendships with classmates such as Mei Dajun. This work is a draft of a more formal composition which highly praises the university's role in 'cultivating and educating the elite'. The piece features a sparse arrangement of characters, written in a calm and serene style. Zhao completed this work in August 1991, at the age of eighty-five.
