Wang Feng (1319-1388), also known by his zi (designated name) Yuanji and his hao (literary names) Ximao Shanren and Wuxizi, was native to Jiangyin (in present-day Wuxi, Jiangsu province). He was famous for poem writing. His book Wuxi Ji records many local anecdotes in Songjiang. Amid the warfare of the late Yuan period, Wang Feng moved to Qinglong Town and later Wunijing (present-day Huajing in Xuhui) within Songjiang Prefecture. This work was created during Wang Feng's stay in 1362. On his visit to Kunshan, Zhang Yu's friend Yu Shan asked him to make this work. The calligraphy draws from the styles of Ouyang Xun, Wang Xizhi and Wang Xianzhi, conveying a brisk style. The album also includes a responsive poem by Yang Weizhen (1297-1370), who lived in Songjiang then, underscoring the region's role as a major cultural center in southeastern China during the late Yuan.
