Dear visitors:
Since the soft opening launched on 2 February, the Shanghai Museum East has become one of the most popular cultural landmarks in Shanghai. Over 900,000 visitors have visited us in Pudong. We also have received lots of precious advice.
While entering the second chapter of the "Trilogy of Opening", we are aiming to open more spaces and provide better service. The Ancient Chinese Bronze Gallery, the Ancient Chinese Sculpture Gallery, and the special exhibition "Stars over China: The Ancient Shu Civilization of Sanxingdui and Jinsha" are open till 20 May (Monday). From 21 May (Tuesday) on, the Shanghai Museum East will be closed till end of June. During the closure, more galleries will undergo construction, refurbishment, and installation of exhibits. In this period, the Shanghai Museum on People's Square remains open to the public with the Chinese Painting Gallery, the Chinese Calligraphy Gallery, the Chinese Ming and Qing Furniture Gallery, the Chinese Minority Nationalities' Art Gallery, and the special exhibition All that Glitters: Chinese Cloisonné as a Gift from Robert Chang's Collection now on view.
By end of June when the Shanghai Museum East reopens, about 80% of the entire space will be open with more permanent and thematic galleries, such as the Ceramics Gallery, the Seal Gallery, the Jade Gallery, the Numismatics Gallery, and Archaeology in Shanghai, China and the World: Ceramics and Exchanges. Interactive spaces like the Digital Gallery and the Curio-City will also be ready to welcome visitors. At the same time, we will present more special exhibitions to treat our visitors.
Please follow us on our official website, WeChat, Weibo and other social media official accounts for further notice on the reopening of the Shanghai Museum East, or to obtain online experiences at anytime from anywhere.
Thank you very much for your understanding and support.
