Audio Guide

Audio Guide devices for Museum’s permanent collection are available in Chinese, English, French, Japanese, German, Korean, Spanish and Italian.

Smart Guide (Chinese only)

The Museum also provides the smart guide to help visitors understand the all-round background of the Museum’s highlights and give a vivid introduction about the historical treasures through a variety of applications, including audio tours, videos, hand-painted stories, animation, and interactive games.

The Museum is located on the People’s Square (ren min guang chang) at the downtown center, close to Nanjing Road and Huaihai Road, neighboring the Shanghai Grand Theatre, the Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, and the Shanghai Concert Hall. The Museum is easily connected by most transport terminals of the city.

Terminal 1, Hongqiao Airport: take Metro Line 10 to Lao Xi Men Station, then transfer to Line 8 to People’s Square Station.

The Museum do not have public parking space. There are two parking lots close by:
People’s Square underground parking lot: RMB 10 yuan per hour
Ground parking lot on Wusheng Road: RMB 10 yuan per hour

The Shanghai Museum Restaurant

Location: 1F, Inner side of the South Gate, offering Chinese and Western style meals.

Hours: 11:00 am – 2:00 pm

Tea Room (The Julianna Young Koo Pavilion)

Location: 2F, offering Chinese tea, coffee, juice, bottled beverages and dim sum.

Hours: 9:00 am – 4:30 pm
