Docent:

The Museum’s docents will offer guided tours every day. Please pay attention to the display screen at the Information Center or the standing plate at the entrance of each gallery.

Volunteers are available to offer free guided tour or assistance every day. Please pay attention to the display screen or the standing plate at the Information Center for details. 

Audio Guide:

Audio Guide devices for Museum’s permanent collection are available in Chinese, English, French, Japanese, German, Korean, Spanish and Italian.

Rental fee of adult version: RMB 20 yuan per set

Rental fee of parent-child version: RMB 20 yuan per set

Rental fee of children’s version: RMB 10 yuan per set

You only need to provide your mobile phone number and a valid ID, with no deposit.

Rental fee: RMB 40 yuan per set, with deposit of RMB 400 yuan / USD 50 dollars / passport

Audio Guide devices for some temporary exhibitions are rented separately. Please ask our staff if the English version is available.

Smart Guide (Chinese only):

The Museum also provides the smart guide to help visitors understand the all-round background of the Museum’s highlights and give a vivid introduction about the historical treasures through a variety of applications, including audio tours, videos, hand-painted stories, animation, and interactive games. 

Each suite includes a touch-screen tablet, hand strap and earphone.

Rental fee: RMB 30 yuan per set, with no deposit. You only need to provide your mobile phone number and a valid ID.

If you want to explore more highlights about the Museum, please download the “Shanghai Museum (上海博物馆)” app for mobile phone only or use the applet of WeChat. Please note the app and applet only have the Chinese version.

1. You can check in your personal belongings (coats, bags, luggage, etc.) at the cloakrooms at the North and South Gates of the Museum. Please carry all valuables with you expect laptops.
2. All bags, packages and personal items must go through the security check before entry. Please get a security check ticket after the security check to deposit your items.
3. You can borrow free wheelchairs and strollers from the cloakroom at the South Gate. Please present your valid ID and pay a deposit of RMB 300 yuan. In the absence of your ID, please pay a deposit of RMB 600 yuan. Please note that all these items can only be used inside the Museum.
4. Sewing kits and first aid kits are available free to visitors.
5. Lost and Found service is available in the cloakroom at the South Gate.
6. Please note that the Museum reserves the right to dispose of any items overdue. If so, you will not hold the Museum liable for removing or destroy such property.

Located at the center of the lobby (west side) on 1^st floor

Services: Inquiry, free brochures (for galleries, events and activities), complaints and suggestions, ‘Commemoration Stamp of Shanghai Museum’ stamping service, etc.
