Guidelines:
The Shanghai Museum has not authorized any third-party platforms, organizations, or individuals to sell tickets or reserve entry other than the Museum's official channels. To protect your rights and interests and avoid frauds or disclosing your personal information, please make a reservation through the official website, Wechat official account or the official Wechat mini-app.
For better visiting experience, please read the guidelines before reservation.
  • Opening Hours: 10:00-18:00 (last entry at 17:00), closed on Tuesdays (except national holidays).
  • To ensure safety and optimize visitor experience, reservations by a timed slot with ID are required. Daily entries are limited to 20,000.
  • During the soft opening (second phase), individual visitors can book the visits 14 days (including the current day) in advance through the official website. Each reservation can be made for up to 5 persons. One ID can be used only once a day. If you cannot make your visit, please cancel your reservation at least 1 day prior to your entry time.
  • One ID can make up to 5 bookings at most for each venue within 30 days.
  • If you have missed your booking 3 times without canceling in 180 days, you will not be able to book within 60 days after the third missed reservation.
  • Groups of and over 20 people shall make a group reservation 7-14 days in advance by calling 021-20729999 ext. 134, and enter the Museum with the effective reservation number.
  • At peak times, visitor traffic control will be implemented in due course. For those who are unable to use smart devices or unable to make reservations online, please use the on-site reservation service at B1 if there are spare tickets.
  • Visitors of and over 65 years old, visitors with disabilities, servicemen, police officers and medical workers can enjoy priority entry into the Museum by presenting their valid IDs (priority access is limited to entering the Museum, special exhibitions excluded).
  • Food & Drinks are served at Shop & Café (1F) and Café Staircase (2F to 3F). Please do not eat or drink in the galleries, corridors, halls, or shops.
  • If the Museum is too crowded, entry check will be slowed down.
  • Any individuals or organizations organizing guided tours need to register for approval before starting the activities.
Notice:
  • Please do not touch the exhibits.
  • Please do not run or shout inside the museum.
  • The following individuals are not allowed to enter: (1) Those who are intoxicated; (2) Those who are improperly dressed; (3) Those without civil capacity and without a guardian accompanying them; (4) Those carrying pets.
  • Do not promote products or distribute advertisements inside the museum.
  • Do not use any type of water-based pens or soluble materials in the galleries
  • Do not engage in behaviors that may disturb other visitors, including but not limited to setting up easels for copying or sketching in the galleries.
  • Do not use flash, selfie sticks, or photography equipment like tripod inside the museum. For exhibitions held in cooperation with other museums and for collaboration shops within the museum, if there are copyright agreements that do not allow visitors to photograph exhibits, please pay attention to the warning signs and follow the instructions of the museum staff.
  • Do not conduct personal live broadcasts or recordings inside the museum without permission.
  • Do not engage in other behaviors that affect public safety and order.

These guidelines will be effective from February 2, 2024. For behaviors that violate the guidelines and disrupt the order of the visit, the Museum has the right to dissuade and stop such behaviors. If dissuasion and stopping are ineffective, the museum may refuse to provide services. For behaviors that constitute violations of public security management, they will be handed over to the public security authorities.
