The main entrance during the trial operation is the north entrance near the Century Avenue.

The Shanghai Museum has not authorized any online platforms, organizations, or individuals to sell tickets or reserve entry other than the Museum's official channels. To protect your rights and interests and avoid frauds or disclosing your personal information, please make a reservation through the official website, Wechat official account or the official Wechat mini-app.

Since February 2, 2024, Shanghai Museum East launches soft opening for the Bronze Gallery and opens the special exhibition Stars over China: The Ancient Shu Civilization of Sanxingdui and Jinsha to the public.
Shanghai Museum East opens from 10:00 to 18:00 (Latest entry at 17:00), closed on Tuesdays (except national holidays).
To ensure safety and optimize visitor experience, reservations by a timed slot with ID are required. Daily entries are limited to 8,000. Thank you for your understanding.

During the soft opening, individual visitors can book the visits 7 days (including the current day) in advance through the official Wechat account (clicking GO-上博-参观预约) or the official mini-app 上海博物馆参观预约 on Wechat. Each reservation can be made for up to 5 persons. One ID can be used only once a day. If you cannot make your visit, please cancel your reservation at least 2 hours prior to your entry time. All canceled entries will be released on the booking system. If you have missed your reservations twice without canceling, you will not be able to book within 30 days after the second missed reservation.
Groups of and over 20 people shall make a group reservation 7-14 days in advance by phone 021-20729999-(134), and enter the Museum with the effective reservation number.
At peak times, visitor traffic control will be implemented in due course. For those who are unable to use smart devices or unable to make reservations online, on-site reservation will be provided if there are spare tickets.
Visitors of and over 65 years old, visitors with disabilities, and medical workers can enjoy priority entry into the Museum basis by presenting their own valid ID (priority access is limited to entering the Museum, special exhibitions excluded).
Food & Drinks are served at Shop & Café (1F) and Café Staircase (2F to 3F). Please do not eat or drink in the galleries, corridors, halls, or shops.
In order to avoid crowds, we recommend you to finish your visit within two hours. If the Museum is too crowded, entry check will be slowed down.
Any individuals or organizations organizing guided tours need to register for approval before starting the activities.

Cloakroom Services：

Cloakroom (F1 and B1, B1 is not yet open to the public)
Visitors can check in coats, bags and luggage (Precious items except computers cannot be accepted for storage service).
Visitors and their belongings need to pass the security check before using the storage service.
If an item is stored beyond a certain period of time, the Museum will dispose the item as unclaimed.

Wheelchairs and strollers: Visitors can borrow wheelchairs and strollers for free. A valid ID or a deposit of RMB 300 yuan is required for borrowing. Borrowed wheelchairs and strollers can only be used in the Museum.
Information Centre (in the east of the museum hall on F1)
The visitors can ask museum staff for help or obtain free brochures of exhibitions and public programs.
Visitors can also file complaints.

Food & Drinks：

Free Wechat Guide
The Museum provides free audio guide for highlights of permanent galleries and learning resources.

Audio Guide
The Museum provides audio guide in Chinese and English (French, Japanese, German, Korean, Spanish, and Italian versions are coming soon). The audio guide will start to play when put near the exhibited items.
Each audio guide set includes: a multi-media player, a pair of earphones, and a lanyard.
Price: RMB 20 yuan per set for Chinese version, RMB 40 yuan per set for English version. This set is only for permanent exhibitions. Smart audio guide for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required.
Smart Guide
The Museum provides the smart guide on mobile devices to help visitors understand the all-round background of the Museum's highlights and give a vivid introduction about the historical treasures through a variety of applications, including audio tours, videos, cartoon stories, animation, exploratory games, and interesting interaction. Automatic location identification and gallery map are also available.
Each suite includes a player and a pair of earphone.
Rental fee: RMB 20 yuan (or more) per set for permanent exhibitions. Devices for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required by a valid ID.
AR Smart Guide
The glasses employ AR and intelligent technology for voice interaction to present videos and animations that interprets the exhibited items, which aims to create an experience combining the virtual and the real.
Each suite includes a pair of AR glasses, a host device and accessories.
Rental fee: RMB 50 yuan per set for permanent exhibitions. Devices for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required by a valid ID and mobile phone number.
