Hours：

Wednesday to Monday, 10:00-18:00 (last entry at 17:00)
Closed on Tuesdays (except national holidays)
Reservation for individual visitors is not required.

Entrance：

1952 Century Avenue, Pudong New Area, Shanghai
Individual visitors can enter the Museum with a valid ID through the B1 East Gate (near Dingxiang Road) after security check; while groups reserved can enter through the North Gate (1F, near Century Avenue) after security check.

Guidelines：

For better visiting experience, please read the guidelines in advance:

Opening Hours: 10:00 – 18:00 (last entry at 17:00), closed on Tuesdays (except national holidays).
During the no-reservation period, visitors may present original valid identity documents, pass security screening at the B1 East Gate, and scan their ID for entry.
To avoid overcrowding in exhibition spaces and ensure quality interactive experiences, advance reservations are still required for The Curio-City and the Digital Gallery. Please select Special Reservation on the Shanghai Museum East reservation page to complete your booking.

For ticketed special exhibitions, relevant information will be posted on notice boards at the Information Desk, the official website and exhibition introduction pages of the official WeChat channel. Visitors may purchase tickets online or on-site at the Information Desk.
If visitor numbers in any individual gallery exceed the instantaneous maximum capacity, temporary flow control will be implemented for that gallery. Restrictions will be lifted once visitor volume returns to a safe level.
Groups of 20 visitors or more (inclusive) must make a telephone reservation 7 days in advance (excluding the visiting day). Daily group admission quotas apply. Reservations are subject to availability and close once fully booked. Walk-in groups without prior reservations will not be admitted.

All successfully reserved groups shall prepare all required documents as stipulated by the museum for admission. Mandatory documents for entry on the visiting day include: valid daily group reservation number, original valid identity documents for every group member (for inspection), original printed group member list with official company seal, original group visit introduction letter with official company seal.
Admission will be refused if documents are incomplete, only colour copies are provided, the actual number of visitors falls below 20, or requirements are not met. Entry Passage: All groups visiting the Shanghai Museum East shall enter and complete ticketing formalities via the reserved group passage at the North Gate. Student groups are required to sign the Safety Responsibility Letter for Student Group Visits on site.
Senior citizens aged 65 and above, persons with disabilities, active service military personnel, retired military personnel, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, comprehensive fire and rescue personnel, public security police officers and medical staff may use the Green Channel at the North Gate on the 1st Floor for priority security screening and entry upon presentation of their original valid identity documents. This priority privilege grants only venue access and excludes ticketed special exhibitions, The Curio-City and the Digital Gallery.
During opening hours, visitors requiring food and beverages may go to the Cultural & Creative Zone on the 1st Floor and the Cultural & Public Square on the 2nd Floor. Eating and drinking are prohibited inside exhibition galleries, corridors, lobbies and museum shops.
Any institution or individual organising guided tours inside exhibition galleries must obtain prior approval from the Shanghai Museum.

Additional Regulations:

Please do not touch the exhibits.
Please do not run or shout inside the museum.
The following individuals are not allowed to enter: (1) Those who are intoxicated; (2) Those who are improperly dressed; (3) Those without civil capacity and without a guardian accompanying them; (4) Those carrying pets.
Do not promote products or distribute advertisements inside the museum.
Do not use any type of water-based pens or soluble materials in the galleries.
Do not engage in behaviors that may disturb other visitors, including but not limited to setting up easels for copying or sketching in the galleries.
Do not use flash, selfie sticks, or photography equipment like tripod inside the museum. For exhibitions held in cooperation with other museums and for collaboration shops within the museum, if there are copyright agreements that do not allow visitors to photograph exhibits, please pay attention to the warning signs and follow the instructions of the museum staff.
Do not conduct personal live broadcasts or recordings inside the museum without permission.
Do not engage in other behaviors that affect public safety and order.

To safeguard visitor safety and cultural relics and deliver a quality visiting experience, the museum may adjust admission arrangements periodically as appropriate. We will release timely announcements and deliver dedicated visitor services.

These guidelines take effect on 15 September 2024. The museum reserves the right to dissuade and stop any violations disrupting visiting order. Visitors who refuse to comply after dissuasion may be denied service. Violations constituting public security offences will be referred to public security authorities.

Cloakroom Services：

Cloakroom (F1 and B1, B1 is not yet open to the public)
Visitors can check in coats, bags and luggage (Precious items except computers cannot be accepted for storage service).
Visitors and their belongings need to pass the security check before using the storage service.
If an item is stored beyond a certain period of time, the Museum will dispose the item as unclaimed.

Wheelchairs and strollers: Visitors can borrow wheelchairs and strollers for free. A valid ID or a deposit of RMB 300 yuan is required for borrowing. Borrowed wheelchairs and strollers can only be used in the Museum.
Information Centre (in the east of the museum hall on F1)
The visitors can ask museum staff for help or obtain free brochures of exhibitions and public programs.
Visitors can also file complaints.

Food & Drinks：

Shop & Café (1F) and Café Staircase (2F to 3F) provide coffee and snacks.

Multimedia Guide：

Free Wechat Guide
The Museum provides free audio guide for highlights of permanent galleries and learning resources.

Audio Guide
The Museum provides audio guide in Chinese and English (French, Japanese, German, Korean, Spanish, and Italian versions are coming soon). The audio guide will start to play when put near the exhibited items.
Each audio guide set includes: a multi-media player, a pair of earphones, and a lanyard.
Price: RMB 20 yuan per set for Chinese version, RMB 40 yuan per set for English version. This set is only for permanent exhibitions. Smart audio guide for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required.
Smart Guide
The Museum provides the smart guide on mobile devices to help visitors understand the all-round background of the Museum's highlights and give a vivid introduction about the historical treasures through a variety of applications, including audio tours, videos, cartoon stories, animation, exploratory games, and interesting interaction. Automatic location identification and gallery map are also available.
Each suite includes a player and a pair of earphone.
Rental fee: RMB 30 yuan (or more) per set for permanent exhibitions. Devices for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required by a valid ID.
AR Smart Guide
The glasses employ AR and intelligent technology for voice interaction to present videos and animations that interprets the exhibited items, which aims to create an experience combining the virtual and the real.
Each suite includes a pair of AR glasses, a host device and accessories.
Rental fee: RMB 60 yuan per set for permanent exhibitions. Devices for special exhibitions will be charged separately.
No deposit required by a valid ID and mobile phone number.
Guided Tour Service
Provide paid English guided tours.
Service fee: Starting at 300 yuan.
