Description

Wen Zhengming (1470-1559) was a famous calligrapher and painter of the Ming dynasty.
This work depicts Suzhou rural scenery, accompanied by the Yuan artist, Ni Zan’s poetry of Jiangnan Spring in his poem, showing variations in stillness. It is applied with thin and light colours, and the foreground composition is basically in flat lines. It changes the magnificent landscape style of the Song dynasty into one of refinement, rendering gentle and serene temperament, which has a special sense of tranquillity.
