Description

Lin Liang (1426 - after 1500), also known by his zi (designated name) Yishan, was a native of Nanhai (nowadays Foshan, Guangdong province). During the Tianshun reign (1457-1464), he was appointed as an official serving the court. Lin Liang was adept in painting flowers and birds in both gongbi (meticulous) and xieyi (freehand or expressive) styles. Most of his works were ink paintings, whereas this beautifully coloured painting was an example of his meticulous works.
