Bao Shichen (1775-1855), a native from Jingxian in Anhui province, is also known by his zi (designated name) Shenbo and hao (literary name) Juanweng. He was awarded juren (a successful candidate in the provincial civil service examination) in the 13th year (1808) of the Jiaqing reign and positioned as District Magistrate of Xinyu in Jiangxi province. He was instructed by Deng Shiru. Bao was the author of Yi Zhou Shuang Ji (Anthology on Epigraphy, Literature and Books) and advocated epigraphy. This scroll is signed Juanweng, indicating that this work was inscribed during his later years.
