Description

Wang Xizhi (307-365) is also known by his zi (designated name) Yishao. A native of Linyi, Shandong province, but he moved to live in Shaoxing, Zhejiang province. Wang Xizhi initiated new calligraphic styles of running and cursive scripts. The inscription of the stele was carved with Wang Xizhi’s calligraphy in the third year of the Xianheng reign of the Tang dynasty. This rubbing was made in the Northern Song dynasty.
