After returning to Shanghai, he taught oil painting at institutions such as the Shanghai Art Academy. This portrait was created in the later years of the artist's life, around 1943. The work shows influences from both Impressionism and Chinese New Realism, with natural brushstrokes, vibrant colors, and a graceful style.
