Qian Xuan, also known by his zi (designated name) Shunju and his hao (literary names) Yutan and Zhachuanweng, was native to Wuxing (nowadays Huzhou, Zhejiang province). He was skilled in poem, calligraphy and painting. This painting depicts the view of Fuyu Mountain in Wuxing. The shading achieved with straight brushstrokes express the lighting effect on the mountain. Qian applied light colours on trees and grass to create a verdant aura.
