Bian Jingzhao (15^th century), also known by his zi (designated name) Wenjin, was native to Sha county in Fujian. Skilled in flower-and-bird paintings, he served as a court painter in both the Yongle period (1403-1424) and the Xuande reign (1426-1435). The birds and flowers in this painting exhibit a style similar to that of Huang Quan. The shading on the stones is achieved through wide brushstrokes. The signature reads "Jingzhao", and the seal reads "Bian Shi Wen Jin" (meaning Bian Wenjin).
