Langyatai Keshi was attributed to Li Si, a statesman of the Qin dynasty (221-207 BCE). It was originally engraved on Langyatai, Zhucheng, Shandong province. The engraved stone has been largely damaged for long, with only 13 columns from the decree of Qin Er Shi (the second emperor of the Qin dynasty) remained. These characters were engraved in the first year (209 BCE) of the reign of Qin Er Shi with firm and balanced brushstrokes that exemplify the Qin dynasty seal script calligraphy. This rubbing was made in the Jiaqing reign (1796-1820) of the Qing dynasty.
