Description

Lu Ji (261-303) with zi (designated name) Shiheng, was native to Wu county (nowadays Suzhou, Jiangsu province). Sun Quan, the King of the Wu State, entitled Lu Ji's grandfather Lu Xun "Marquis of Huating (Huating refers to nowadays Songjiang District in Shanghai)". Lu Ji's Letter of Recovery was the earliest master's calligraphy work remaining today. It is regarded as the "Very First Model Calligraphy". The original work is in the Palace Museum collection. This rubbing comes from Liang Qingbiao's Calligraphy in the Qiubi Studio of the Qing dynasty.
