Description

Chen Yongnian was active during the Jiajing and Wanli eras. A native of Dantu (present-day Zhenjiang, Jiangsu), his zi (courtesy name) was Congxun, and his hao (literary name) was Lingfeng Shanren. He excelled in calligraphy and connoisseurship, amassing a large number of masterpieces from the Song and Yuan dynasties. This hanging scroll features cursive script with continuous brush movement, fluid transitions, and strokes of balanced strength and delicacy, resulting in a work that is both unconventional and charming.
