Description

Wang Duo, also known by his zi (courtesy name) Juesi and his hao (literary names) Shiqiao, Songqiao, and Chi'an, was a native of Mengjin (present-day Luoyang, Henan). He served as Minister of Rites in Nanjing of the Ming dynasty; during the Qing dynasty, he served as Minister of Rites and was posthumously honored with the title Wen'an. A master calligrapher proficient in all styles, he was highly esteemed in his time. This work, executed in running script, draws inspiration not only from Wang Xizhi and one of his sons, Wang Xianzhi but also from Mi Fu. It features a powerful momentum and a bold, rugged spirit, showcasing a unique style.
