Dear visitors,
For a safe and enjoyable environment in the Shanghai Museum, we request your attention to the following policies:
1. Opening hours: 9:00-17:00 (last entry at 16:00); Closed on every Monday (except national holidays).
Museum Late: on every Friday from 7th July to 20th August 2023, 18:00-21:00 (last entry at 20:00).
2. From 20th June to 8th October, all visitors should make prior reservations. Individual visitors can book the visits 7 days (including the current day) in advance through the official website or the official Wechat account. Each reservation can be made for up to 5 persons. One ID can be used only once a day. If you cannot make your visit, please cancel your reservation at least 2 hours prior to your entry time. All canceled entries will be released on the booking system. We recommend visitors waiting on-site for entry check the reservation platforms from time to time. If you have missed your reservations twice without canceling, you will not be able to book within 30 days after the second missed reservation.
3. From 20th June to 8th October, groups of and over 20 people must make a group reservation 7-14 days in advance through the official website of the Shanghai Museum (www.shanghaimuseum.net), and enter the Museum with the reservation QR code. The daily entry for groups is limited and is operated on a “first come first served” basis.
4. The Shanghai Museum has not authorized any third party to conduct for-profit guided tours. Institutions or individuals who need to carry out guided tours inside the Museum must report to the Museum in advance for approval. The Museum security has the right to terminate all unapproved activities and require those who violate the Museum's rules to leave the premises. Individuals or institutions that refuse to obey the regulations, or disrupt other visitors, and cause adverse result, will be held liable depending on the severity of the case.
5. The Shanghai Museum offers to visitors various guiding services for permanent galleries and special exhibitions. The free Wechat virtual guides are written by the Museum's curators who also record the audios. We welcome all visitors to take full advantage of the free online resources. The Shanghai Museum also offers free on-site guided tours every day. Please check the notice board in the Museum lobby for latest on "Today's Guided Tours". Visitors can rent smart guides and audio guides which are available in the lobby.
