The construction of the Shanghai Museum East has entered a key phase. To prepare new galleries in the Museum East, the following galleries in the Shanghai Museum on the People’s Square will be closed starting September 4, 2023 (Monday): the Ancient Chinese Bronze Gallery (1F), the Ancient Chinese Sculpture Gallery (1F), the Ancient Chinese Ceramics Gallery (2F), the Chinese Seal Gallery (3F), the Ancient Chinese Jade Gallery (4F), and the Chinese Currency Gallery (4F). We are looking forward to welcoming you back very soon in the new galleries in the Shanghai Museum East.
During this period, you can still visit the Chinese Calligraphy Gallery (3F), the Chinese Painting Gallery (3F), the Chinese Ming and Qing Furniture Gallery (4F), the Chinese Minority Nationalities Art Gallery (4F), and the two special exhibitions - The Proof of Early China: The Civilizations of Songze and Liangzhu (1F), and Advancing with the Times: The Technique of Rubbing (4F) - till October 8, 2023 (Sunday).
Starting October 9, 2023 (Monday) the Museum on the People’s Square will be closed for gallery installation and is expected to reopen before the end of 2023. More details will be announced very soon.
