Venue：Chinese Calligraphy Gallery
Since the establishment of the Shanghai Museum over 60 years ago, it has gradually enriched its collection. For many years, connoisseurs with patriotism such as Sun Yufeng (1901-1967) carefully preserved cultural relics, and finally donated their collections to the museum.
As a famous entrepreneur in Shanghai, Sun Yufeng was keen on the connoisseurship of Chinese painting and calligraphy, and collected hundreds of ancient works in Hongyi Zhai (the name of his studio). Sun and his family donated 160 pieces of paintings and calligraphy to the Shanghai Museum.
At the end of 2016, the exhibition named Highlights of Ancient Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy from the Donation of Sun Yufeng's Family is held in the Shanghai Museum to commend Sun and his family’s effort on protecting cultural heritage and their enthusiasm of patriotism. More than 40 pieces of paintings and calligraphy from Sun’s donation are selected for this exhibition. We appreciate Sun’s family for providing Sun Yufeng’s manuscripts, donation certificate and precious photos to us.
Finally, we’d like to pay our respect to Sun Yufeng, his wife Wang Defeng and their children.
